Adobe Illustrator program — the bright representative of programs of vector graphics, it embodies almost all achievements in this area. One of advantages of vector graphics is integration possibility in the vectorial document of point images, however, as a rule, their handling was reduced earlier only to relocation and scaling.
Adobe firm, leading a connection consistent policy of all сноих products in the uniform and interconnected technological chain, essentially expanded possibilities of conversion of point images and included more than half of the filters used in the program of a pointwise drawing of adobe Photoshop 6.0. It allows, without abandoning the vectorial program, to receive various visual effects.
Except the "native" filters which have been included in the distribution kit of the program, Adobe Illustrator program can work and with filters of indirect developers, so-called additional (plug-in units. Once installed they are caused from menu Filter (Filter) and work according to the task. More the detail information about setting of additional units look in chapter 2.
For operation with point images it is given more and more possibilities. They can be imported freely to the document by means of command Place to (Place, control them by means of palette Links (Communication), to trace with помошью tool Aute Trace (Autotrace), to use set of the pointwise filters transferred from профиммы Adobe Photoshop, but also, the point image can be converted in a vectorial mosaic by means of original филыра Object Mosaic (the Vectorial mosaic) or in a vectorial engraving by means of filter Photo Crosshatch (the Vectorial photoengraving).
All filters of a pointwise drawing are presented to menu Filter (Filter) and divided into 10 groups: Artistic (Simulation), Blur (Blur). Brush Strokes (Dashes), Distort (Deformation), Pixelate (Design), Sharpen (Sharpness), Sketch (Sketch), Stylize (Stylization), Texture (Texture) and Video (Video).
Selecting the point image, it is necessary to execute an appropriate command (to apply the filter). As a rule, on the screen the dialog box in which it is necessary to define filter parameters is deduced.
If it is required to repeat the given command once again, for example, to other image, it is necessary to remember that the name of the filter applied last, is displayed in top lines of the list of menu commands Filter (Filter) (fig. 12.1). The choice of the first command beginning with word Apply to (Apply), leads to performance of a command with the previous setting, and performance of the second command displays a dialog box of the appropriate filter.

For a tentative estimation of influence of the filter on the image it is necessary to use possibility windows Preview (Review) (fig. 12.2) which dialog boxes of overwhelming number of filters possess.
At cursor layout in a window of print preview it takes a form of tool Hand (Hand). Pushing the mouse button, it is possible to move the most important fragment of the image that on it to see result of action of the filter and, judging by it, to pick up necessary parameters of action of the filter for an adequate embodiment of an art intention. At the moment of relocation the image takes an initial form, for support of this process filter action temporarily stops.
In the field of print preview possibility of scaling of the image is provided. For this purpose under a window two buttons are allocated:

Between buttons value of reduction or image magnification in percentage is displayed. The blinking line of underlining under value of scale testifies that "copying" of a contained field of review is not ended yet.
After setting of all necessary parameters it is necessary to push the button OK-IF filter performance assumes difficult handling and the durable time Adobe Illustrator program displays window Progress (performance Process) with a title of the executable filter and "a progress band" which allows to estimate approximately time demanded for operation the filter demands enough. In a window button Stop also is presented to (Interrupt), providing possibility to interrupt process.
Group Artistic filters
Filters of this group are intended for simulation of various artistic touches and techniques which are used in traditional areas of art (painting and a drawing). Simulation of a picture by a pencil and a pastel, painting water color.красками Here concerns, engravings and etc. Existence of these filters, of course, concerns questions at issue of application of computer technologies in the field of the fine arts.
The art essence consists not only and not how many in application of specific technics or any reception, the characteristic fine arts for a separate type, and that expresses means of technics or receptions — the spiritual and emotional content of product.
Therefore reception usage as that, without the intelligent art task has deliberate and inorganic character of "hand-made article" (and, perhaps, "fakes").
Filter Colored Penci
Filter Colored Pencil (Color pencils) serves for simulation of the picture fulfilled by color pencils (fig. 12.3). However, hatching at such picture mechanical enough.
Value in the field Pencil Widtb (Thickness) defines a thickness of a slate pencil of a pencil in a range from 1 to 24.
Field Stroke Pressure (Pressing) in a range from 0 to 15 installs force of action of a pencil, and field Paper Brightness (Brightness of a paper) in a range from 0 to 50 — level of "transillumination" of a paper through a layer of dashes of pencils.

Filter Cutout (Application) is intended for simulation of graphic technics of creation of a picture from the cut fragments of multi-colored materials (a paper, a fabric and so forth). Technics very congenial to vector graphics. Therefore the image after application of such filter ideally for performance of the subsequent trace (especially at small values of number of levels and the maximum value of "simplicity of edges").
In the field No. of Levels (Number of levels) a dialog box (fig. 12-4) is installed an amount of color levels in a range from 2 to 8. Field Edge Simplicity (Simplicity of edges) in a range from 0 to 10 defines a level обобщенности a circuit of an element of application: the above value, the лаконичнее (or is more rough"to who as likes) a circuit.
Value in the field Edge Fidelity (Marginal sharpness) in a range from 1 to 3 defines accuracy of transmission of the sharp boundaries which are available in the source image: the above value, the such boundaries are more precisely transferred.

Filter Dry Brush (Dry-brush) is intended for simulation of art technics of a dry-brush (fig. 12.5) which in traditional art at masterful execution is considered very effective. For this filter monochrome images more approach.

Filter Film Grain (Granularity of a film) serves for simulation of one of receptions of an art photo — the increased granularity (fig. 12.6), especially well this reception "works" with a black-and-white photo.

Filter Paint Daubs (Oil painting) is intended for some simulation of art technics of oil painting (fig. 12.9).

Filter Bas Relief
Filter Bas Relief (Bas-relief) represents a variation of a plane relief (fig. 12,42). For obtaining of good result it is necessary to prepare the source image: to convert it in a gray scale and to strengthen sharpness to necessary level.
Value in the field Detail (Detailing) defines level "is worked aches and" details in a range from 1 to 15, and in the field Smoothness (Focusing) — sharpness level in a range from 1 to 15 (the value, the more low sharpness less).

Filter Chalk and Charcoal (the Chalk and coal) is intended for simulation of the picture fulfilled with application of art materials - coal and a chalk (fig. 12.43). Normally in pictures coal swept it is applied extremely delicately; only for accentuation of possible flares on brilliant subjects (in portraits it there can be only flares in an eye).
Values in fields Charcoal Area (Coal) and Chalk Area (Chalk) define a level of usage of coal and swept that as a matter of fact is balance black and white in a range from 0 to 20.
In the field Stroke Pressure (Pressing) install in a range from 0 to 5 level of black color for coal which at small pressing gives beleso-gray tone, and at big — barhatno-black.
Filter Charcoal
Filter Charcoal (Coal) is intended for picture simulation by pure coal of barhatno-black color (fig. 12.44).
Value in the field Charcoal Thickness defines (Intensity) in a range from 1 to 7 thickness of the dash created by means of a stick of coal.
In the field Detail (Detailing) is installed a level "проработанности" images in a range from 0 to 5.
Field Light/Dark Balance (Pitch balance) is intended for determination of trigger level white and black in a range from 0 to 100.

Filter Chrome (Chrome) is intended for simulation of flares and the reflections peculiar to chromeplated surfaces which have no own images, but depending on a surrounding (the sky, clouds and lighting) create "picture" as though in set of curve mirrors (fig. 12.45).
Value in the field Detail (Detailing) defines an amount of reflective surfaces in a range from 0 to 10, and in the field Smoothness (Softening) — level of their smoothness also in a range from 0 to 10.
Filter Conte Crayon
Filter Conte Crayon (Wax pencil) serves for picture simulation color small or a pencil on a wax basis which create on a plane noticeable enough relief (fig. 12.46).
Fields Foreground Level (Primary color) and Background Level (Background color) define a level of usage of the main or background colors in a range from 1 to 15.
