The objects consisting of huge number of circuits, are potential sources of misprints. Than more difficult the object, the more in it of segments and reference points, the is required to more time for calculations and the press.
It is possible to recommend following methods of optimization of objects.
| It is necessary to start to think of an optimality already in the course of creation of objects, for example, to use tool Pen (Pen) instead of tool Pencil (Pencil). This reminder concerns who has an experience in programs of a pointwise drawing and who only started to master the vectorial program. Anyway it is necessary to aspire to that the amount of reference points balanced at level of the optimal. | |
| It is necessary to delete every time superfluous reference points on circuits, i.e. those points which are not defining. It is necessary to delete single reference points in the end of operation. More the detail information look in chapter 5. | |
| If in the document very difficult objects are used, they should be divided (split long paths) as it is described in following section. | |
| It is necessary to pay attention to output resolution and if needed to change it towards reduction. Look further section "Lowering of output resolution" of this chapter. |
PostScript-printers have some restrictions on complexity of circuits, therefore at printout enough saturated documents can appear the message on limit excess.
For simplification of such circuits in Adobe Illustrator program possibility of automatic sharing of "long" circuits on some "shorter" circuits is provided. If in dialog box Document Setup (document Parameters) to install flag Split Long Paths (Splitting of difficult circuits) at saving or printing Adobe Illustrator program "at own discretion" breaks a difficult circuit direct lines which are visible only at review in a key line mode (fig. 15.10),

| Rice 15.10. An example of splitting of a difficult circuit |
The program does not break "the long" circuits having parameters обводки, composite circuits and masks. For circuit sharing it is necessary to use tool Scissors (Scissors) (? <).
For a partition of a composite circuit or a mask it is necessary to execute at first command Release to (Cancel) menu Object/Compound Paths (Object / the Composite circuit), and then to use tool Scissors (Scissors).
For a mask partition it is necessary to execute at first command Release to (Cancel) menu Object/Mask (Object/mask), and then also to use tool Scissors (Scissors).
If the object has a thickness обводки and filling it is formed two objects: one for a circuit which does not break, and the second for filling which breaks.

Nota Bene. However it is necessary to mean that the program not in a state to consider all subtleties of interaction of many objects with each other and by that its "independent" actions can break design of page. Difficult objects break into separate components, operation over object as whole hence is at a loss ("the whole trouble" to collect it reversely: болев it is full about it chapter 5) narrates. Therefore before installing the specified flag, at all лишне to save a copy of the initial document as it is a question of the difficult document for which many forces and time are spent. |
The interpreter of language PostScript considers curve segments of circuits as set of direct segments which the more shortly, the transfer curvature of a circuit more precisely. But reduction of length of direct segments sharply increases their amount that eventually can exceed the limit which has been led out for растеризатора. As a result given circuit is not deduced on the printing device (the PostScript-printer can long accept the information from the computer "blink" properly under the instruction and then "pretend" that was nothing).
One of the values defining smoothness (flatness) by a curve, output resolution is. The it more low, the is longer segments of straight lines, the worse"a curve, but press process happens that faster and more effectively. The task of the user — experimentally to find"golden mean".
By default in the program output resolution 800 dpi which is optimal in very many cases is accepted. Nevertheless, situations when this value should be lowered are possible (is not printed the document, too slow press and other "delights").
To install output resolution of object, it is necessary to select it and by means of command Show Attributes (to Show attributes) menu Window (Window) to display palette Attributes (Attributes).
In the field Output (Output) (fig. 15.11) it is necessary to enter necessary value of resolution in a range from 100 to 9600 dpi. Anyway this value should not exceed printing device resolution though it can be considerable smaller (to 2—3 times).

The document created in the program of adobe Illustrator, frequently it is necessary to transfer to other experts for operation continuation over a drawing or executions of final operations (a color separation, an output to phototypesetting automatic machines). In this connection there is a need for summation of the information on the document: fonts, color parameters, the graded-index extensions, the imported drawing and etc.
Such information can be received and at desire to save and use irrespective of a graphic file, and the information can reflect the data on separate object, in this case it it is necessary to select and activate command Selection Only (Only the selected objects) the dialog box menu, or under all document, in this case there should not be selected objects, and command Selection Only (Only the selected objects) is inactive.
Command Document Info is presented to menu File (File) (the Information on the document) which allows to receive the information on many components of the document and if needed to save it.
(The Information on the document) it is possible to select following variants from the list of the menu of dialog box Document Info:
| Document (Document) (fig. 15.12) | |
| Objects (Objects) | |
| Styles (Styles) | |
| Brushes (Objects with parameters of paintbrushes) | |
| Spot Color Objects (Objects with плашечными colors) | |
| Pattern Objects (Objects with decorative filling) | |
| Gradient Objects (Objects with graduated fill) | |
| Fonts (Fonts) |
| Linked Images (the Bound images) | |
| Embedded Images (Inline images) | |
| Font Details (Convergence on fonts) |

To save the information on the document, command Save is used to (Save). Look an example of such document in section "Search and changeover of font formatting" chapters 11.
Summaries to objects
In palette Attributes (Attributes) which is caused on the screen by command Show Attributes (to Show attributes) menu Window (Window), it is possible to add to each object the summary (any text for the storage or for convergence of other experts). Such summary is located in a PostScript-file in the form of text units and can help to understand, for example, to workers of service bureaus with problems at printing.
To connect the summary with object, it is necessary to select it, and in palette Attributes (Attributes) by means of command Show Note (to Show the comment) to open a field for summaries in the lower part of a palette (fig. 15.13).

It is possible to enter the text in length into this field to 240 characters (it enough to type, for example, the object title, any singularity of the given object, the name and date).
In a file all summaries are saved in lines which begin with a label
%AI3_Note.
