Palette of tools

By default in the left part of a working window the palette of tools (fig. 2.14), containing all tools with which help it is possible to create, select, edit and move graphic objects is allocated.

Fig. 2.14. The General view of a palette of tools with the separated groups of tools

In the upper part of a palette the dark band of "title" is allocated. Under it there is a decorative emblem of the program, click on an emblem displays Adobe Online dialog box (the Adobe Server) (fig. 2.15).

This dialog box allows to carry out program update in the presence of access to the network Internet. The given window can be caused also a command

Adobe Online (the Adobe Server) menu File (File).

After update Adobe Online dialog box (the Adobe Server) takes other form (fig. 2.16) and allows to address and to other sections.

By operation with certain tools the cursor accepts the appropriate form: so tools groups Ren (Pen), groups Pencil (Pencil), tools Paintbrush (Paintbrush), Eyedropper (Pipette), Knife (Knife), Paint Bucket (Filling), Hand (Hand) and Zoom (Scale) "behave".

If the cursor is necessary for these tools in a type перекрестья () that allows to position more precisely it on the screen, it is enough to push at the switched on tool a key [Caps Lock]. For simultaneous change of a type of all cursors it is necessary to install flag Use Precise Cursors (Exact cursors) section General (Cores) of dialog box Preferences (Setting) which is caused by command Preferences/General (Setting / the Cores) menu File (File).

If needed the palette of tools can be allocated in any place of the screen. For relocation of a palette of tools it is necessary to capture a band of title of a palette and to move it to a convenient place.

The palette of tools can and be deleted at all from the screen. For this purpose in menu Window (Window) there is command Hide Tools (to Hide tools) which after performance turns to command Show Tools (to Show tools), allowing to return a palette of tools on the screen.

Some tools are united in groups. These groups can be separated from a palette of tools in an independent palette (fig. 2.14 see). For this purpose it is necessary to push the button of the tool and, without releasing the mouse button, to stretch it to a triangular arrow on the right. After release of the mouse button the palette of group of tools can "travel" independently.

By default at cursor leading to the tool button on the screen the label (for example, tool Knife Tool (the Knife) on fig. 2.11) with a title of the tool and a keyboard equivalent (if the last exists) is deduced. This function can be disconnected if to remove flag Show Tool Tips (to Display labels of tools) in section General (Cores) of dialog box Preferences (Setting) which is caused by command Preferences/General (Setting / the Cores) menu Edit (Editing).

About separate tools look the detail information in chapters 5, 8 and 9.

Display of the working screen

In the lower part of a palette of tools three buttons (fig. 2.17) which define display modes of the working screen of the program are allocated.

The left button () is included by default and defines a standard mode (Standard Screen Mode) - with all menus, scroll bars and other.

The central button () includes a full screen output (Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar) images with a menu band, but without a band of title and without scroll bars.

The right button () includes full screen. An output (Full Screen Mode) images without a title band, without a band of the menu and without scroll bars.

Palettes

The program of adobe Illustrator besides a palette of tools allocates in ten more the palettes serving for convenience of performance of those or other functions, for example, of a choice of color and other parameters обводки and lick, executions of various transformations and etc.

For display to the screen of any palette in menu Window (Window) there are some commands which begin with word Show to (Show). If the palette is on the screen, its display can be cancelled a command which begins with word Hide to (Hide).

Palettes occupy an important place on the screen. To move them from place to place, it is necessary to capture title of a palette and to move it to a proper place.

By means of a key [Таb] it is possible to delete temporarily all open palettes, including and a palette of tools. Repeated pushing the same key returns all on the places.

The keyboard shortcut [Shift] + [Tab] closes all open palettes except a palette of tools. Repeated pushing of these keys returns all closed palettes on the screen.

Palettes are by default incorporated in groups and displayed in one window (fig. 2.18). As a part of such group switching of palettes is carried out by click on the appropriate tab.

Fig. 2.18. The group of palettes, switching is in between carried out by click on the appropriate tab

To separate any palette from group, it is necessary to capture the tab of this palette and to drag the conditional rectangle displaying overall dimensions of a palette, for group limits. As a result the palette receives independent existence.

To include a palette in group, it is necessary to capture also the tab of a palette and to drag it in limits of a palette or group of palettes which the given palette joins.

Double click on the palette tab displaces it, leaving only tabs (fig. 2.19). It is one more method of struggle for a place on the screen: the palette is present on the screen, it is accessible at any moment, but occupies a minimum space. Thus access to the palette menu is saved.

To tear the necessary palette, it is necessary to click twice on its tab.

Fig. 2.19. Group of palettes in the contracted type

At an output from the program saving of parameters of palettes (their layout and grouping) is provided.

However after all changes there is a possibility, at first, to load the program with setting of palettes by default, and secondly, to recover initial parameters at any moment in a program operating time.

Each palette has also the own menu of commands which give huge number of various additional functions. For discovery of the menu of a palette it is necessary to push a triangular arrow () to the right of tabs to the upper part of a palette (fig. 2.20).

Fig. 2.20. An example of a palette with the open menu of commands

Fig. 2.21. An example of group of palettes with an easy approach to everyone

At join of palettes in group they can be displayed on the screen by two methods:

To superimpose each other, leaving accessible simultaneously only tabs (tabbed mode);
To be allocated so that to give an easy approach to all fields (docked mode) (fig. 2.21).

To join palettes in the last image, it is necessary to move the tab necessary a palette to the lower part of other palette (thus there is the gray strip testifying to the correct position of palettes and about possibility of their join).

To move the unit of the joined palettes, it is necessary to capture and move the general title of the unit.
