For performance of any actions with objects the last should be unambiguously selected from all remaining. The special tools of selection allocated in a palette of tools are for this purpose intended.

| Tool Direct Selection (the Partial selection) ( |
Group Lasso tools (Лассо) in a certain level double functions specified above selection tools.

For selection of separate object it is necessary to include tool Selection (Selection) (
) or Group Selection (Selection in group) (
) (fig. 5.17), and then:
| If the object has filling and mode Preview (Illustration) is included enough to click the mouse button within this object; | |
| If the object without filling or is included mode Outline (Planimetric) it is necessary to click immediately on a circuit; | |
| It is possible to select object, surrounding with its shaped frame (marquee). To use the last method by operation with any other tool, it is enough to push and retain a key [Ctrl]; |

Nota Bene. It is necessary to mean that possibility of selection of object as a result of click "on filling" is given, only if flag Use Area Select (Selection from within) (fig. 5.18) section General (Cores) of dialog box Preferences (Setting) which is caused by command Preferences (Setting) of menu Edit (Editing) is installed. |

Sometimes objects completely superimpose each other. In this case for selection of the object allocated under other object, it is necessary to allocate precisely tool Selection (Selection) (
) over selected object (that uneasy enough) and is desirable as it is possible to remember precisely layout of objects rather each other, and then to push the right mouse button. From the shortcut menu to select command Select to (Select), which in turn offers four commands.
| Commands Next Object Below (Object below selected) and Next Object Above (Object above selected) provide selection of the object allocated under or over selected object, accordingly. | |
| Commands Last Object Below (the Lowermost object under selected) and First Object Above (the Uppermost object over selected) provide selection of the object occupying accordingly the lowermost or uppermost position in "pile" under or over selected object. |
For selection of a segment of a curve it is necessary to include tool Direct Selection (the Partial selection) (
) and to click on the necessary segment (the accuracy tolerance — 2 пиксела) or to surround a segment with the shaped frame.
It is possible to "outline" also a demanded fragment of a circuit or set of reference points by means of tool Direct Select Lasso (Partial лассо) (
). Depending on type of a segment as a result of its selection are displayed:
| All reference points on a circuit; | |
| Controlling points and segment lines if the segment represents a curve. |
Controlling points are displayed in the form of the filled circles, the selected reference points — in the form of the filled small squares, and not selected — in the form of empty small squares (fig. 5.19).
To add an element to the selected elements or to delete from the selected elements, it is necessary to retain at the moment of click a key [Shift].

In the program the method of transformations by means of markers of a "dimensional" rectangle (though they are less functional, than identical markers in program CorelDRAW) is implemented.
At selection of one or several objects by means of tool Selection (Selection) (
) round them is formed "a dimensional" rectangle (fig. 5.20). If operation is conducted in mode Pixel Preview (Display in пикселах) and alignment "to within пиксела" display of a "dimensional" rectangle can be disconnected is required, removing flag Use Preview Bounds ("the Dimensional" rectangle on обводке) in section General (Cores) of dialog box Preferences (Setting).

| Rice 5.20. The selected objects with "a dimensional rectangle" |
The rectangle and markers allow to move, double, receive mirror reflections and to scale the selected objects. Possibility to fulfill any transformations is thus saved at palette Transform (Transformation), and also by means of appropriate tools:
| Free Transform (the Free transformation) ( | |
| Rotate (Turn) ( |
|
| Scale (Size) ( | |
| Reflect (Mirror) ( |
|
| Shear (Inclination) ( |
The information on transformation of objects look in chapter 7.

Nota Bene. It is necessary to mean one singularity connected to rotation of objects: "the dimensional" rectangle makes rotation together with objects (fig. 5.21). |

If operation is conducted in mode Pixel Preview (Display in пикселах) and alignment "to within пиксела" display of a "dimensional" rectangle on обводке can be disconnected is required, removing the specified flag.
"The dimensional" rectangle and at all can be deleted from the screen if to execute command Hide Bounding Box (to Hide "a dimensional" rectangle) menu View (Review). The command is replaced on Show Bounding Box (to Show "a dimensional" rectangle) that gives the chance to return at any moment a rectangle on the screen.
Selection of elements of objects with filling
By default flag Use Area Select (Selection from within) section General (Cores) of dialog box Preferences (Setting) which is caused by command Preferences (Setting) of menu Edit (Editing), is always installed. It (Illustration) with click in any part of object allows to select objects in mode Preview.
But it not always happens conveniently, for example, if needed to select superimposed objects. In that case given function should be disconnected.
For more economical and unitized operation there is a necessity simultaneously to select mass of objects to fulfill with them the same operation, for example, relocation (composite coordination entirely consists of relocation in various variants of the same composition of elements), transformation (in particular, scaling is also one of the essential elements of composite creation) and etc.
For selection of several objects there are following methods:
| Surrounding of the necessary objects the shaped frame (marquee); | |
| Key usage [Shift]. |
Both these of a method can be combined freely. For example, selecting some objects by means of the frame, to push a key [Shift] and to delete from it the objects which have got casually and-or to add not got by means of the frame or click on object. After that it is possible to release a key [Shift] (a Fig. 5.24).

| Rice 5.24. An example of selection of several objects simultaneously |
To select all Objects of the document, it is possible to execute command Select All (to Select all) menu Edit (Editing). As a result there will be selected all objects except for what are shorted (locked) or are hidden (hidden). More in detail about it it is described in chapter 6.
That in composition of the selected objects to include not selected and to eliminate selected, it is necessary to execute command Inverse to (Invert) menu Edit/Select (Editing/select).
To eliminate selection objects, (Selection) (
) on any free place from objects of a working window is enough to click tool Selection. Usage of command Deselect All (to Cancel selection) menu Edit (Editing) in another way is.
For an exception of separate objects it is necessary to use a key [Shift] at the moment of click on these objects.
The following commands are presented to menu Edit/Select (Editing/select), allowing to add objects to already selected on following signs:
| Same Appearance (With the same style) | |
| Same Fill and Stroke (With same обводкой and filling) | |
| Same Fill Color (With the same fill color) | |
| Same Stroke Color (With the same color обводки) | |
| Same Stroke Weight (With the same thickness обводки) | |
| Same Blending Mode (With the same mode of superimposing) | |
| Same Opacity (With the same opacity) |
In the same menu there are commands which allow to select all objects of certain types:
| Masks (Objects with masks) | |
| Stray Points (Separate reference points) | |
| Brush Strokes (Objects with paintbrush dashes) |
For relocation of the selected segment of a circuit without change of its form it is necessary to include tool Direct Selection (the Partial selection) (
) to select a necessary segment and to move it. At a pushed key [Shift] the relocation direction will be restricted to corners, to the multiple 45 degrees. This method is used more often when segment relocation strictly horizontally or strictly vertically is required.
For relocation of a direct segment it is enough to click the same tool Direct Selection (the Partial selection) in any place of a segment and to move it.
For change of the form of the curvilinear segment it is necessary to use tool Direct Selection (the Partial selection) (
) with which help it is possible to select an interesting segment, and then to move reference and controlling points or, capturing immediately a segment circuit, to change its form (fig. 5.25).

Besides, change of the form of a circuit can be connected to change of type of a reference point.
To transform a smooth reference point in angular or on the contrary, it is necessary to include tool Direct Selection (the Partial selection) (
) to select necessary object and a reference point, and then to use tool Convert Anchor Point (to Transform a reference point) (
). If one of tools groups Pen (Pen) at present is already included, it is necessary to push a key [Alt], which also includes tool Convert Anchor Point (to Transform a reference point) (
) (fig. 5.26).
The further actions depend on reference point type.
| For conversion of a smooth reference point in угловуюs without controlling lines it is enough to click on it (fig. 2.27). | |
| If to click on an angular point and to "pull" aside, the smooth reference point (fig. 5.28) is formed | |
