Decorative filling

The mechanism of decorative filling — extremely powerful and infinite source which allows to solve impressive problems easily and simply. Competently creating elements of filling, it is possible to imitate any surface, a material and etc.

For creation of an element of filling it is possible to use any objects, except objects-masks and objects with graded-index extensions.

Elements for filling differ from the elements intended for decorative paintbrushes (in view of necessity to turn elements according to a circuit path) a little. Look about it in chapter 5.

Before trying to create elements for decorative filling, it is necessary clearly for itself to represent "the operation mechanism" in comparison with decorative paintbrushes. Their differences consist in the following.
Filling elements are built from left to right and from below upwards, and elements of a decorative paintbrush ~ along a circuit.
As a rule, decorative filling is under construction of one element (tile), and the decorative paintbrush can consist of three various elements: for the sides, for exterior and for internal corners (they allow to save a continuity of a pattern or an ornament along all path of a circuit).
Elements of decorative filling are allocated perpendicularly x axes, and elements of a decorative paintbrush can be perpendicular to a circuit line, and always the element peak is directed to outer side. Angular elements are torn always on 90 degrees clockwise at each change of a direction of a circuit.
Elements of decorative filling and elements of a decorative paintbrush are differently allocated concerning "a dimensional" rectangle (bounding box). For decorative filling this rectangle serves as masking object out of which elements are not spread, and for a decorative paintbrush "propagation" and out of a rectangle is characteristic.


The elementary elements of decorative filling

To receive an original element of decorative filling, he is necessary for creating by own strength, using graphic possibilities of the program of adobe Illustrator.

Thus it is necessary to consider the basic restrictions at creation, namely, it is impossible to use:
The masked objects
Objects with a graded-index extension
Objects with decorative filling
Decorative paintbrushes
Objects with a graded-index grid
Point images
Charts
The imported EPS-images

Also it is necessary to consider and possible restrictions at the press; it is necessary to avoid very difficult and tangled constructions with set of colors.

Besides, not the last role is played by esthetic perception of the multiplied elements, observance of requirements of ornamental art and sense of proportion here is required.

Technically reasonably at creation of an element of filling to have before eyes an imaginary or real rectangle (tile) on which basis the mosaic of filling is added and in which the decorative element "is inscribed". Eventually, if to it to give "zero" parameters of filling and обводки it can be included in an element of filling as restricting, but the invisible frame.

The picture intended for usage as an element of filling, it is necessary to select and fulfill one or the other actions to place new filling in palette Swatches (Directory).
To execute command Define Pattern (to Define a filling element) menu Edit (Editing) and in opened dialog box New Swatch (the New sample) to enter a filling name.
Easier to "drag" the selected object in palette Swatches (Directory).

If the object meets program requirements she automatically creates an element of filling and appropriates to it a standard name. If nevertheless it is required to give it the user name double click on the sample of this filling it is possible to cause dialog box Swatch Options (Parameters of the sample) which allows to enter the arbitrary name.

The general councils about creation of elements of decorative filling

At creation of elements of decorative filling it is possible to be guided by following general councils which can help at the beginning with mastering of productive technology.

The very first council concerns accuracy and simplicity of created elements. That it to achieve and it to estimate, it is necessary to work with increased enough originals for filling. And only after a final finishing to reduce till the demanded size.

If at reduction any details "disappear" or look insufficiently expressively it is better to get rid of them or if they play an important role, completely to rearrange a picture so that all elements imported the maximum contribution "to common cause".

Thus objects of one color if it is possible, it is more reasonable to group so that they in general "pile" of objects were allocated the friend over the friend. It can solve set of problems at the press, as rasterization of set of small vectorial elements — the considerable loading for the raster processor.

For color effects it is desirable to use global composite or плашечные colors which in palette Swatches (Directory) afterwards is easier to change.

Editing of elements of decorative filling

Available elements of filling can be edited as any vector image, and then to return it in palette Swatches (Directory) under a new name or to replace with the edited image the old.
Nota Bene. In case of changeover of the old sample of an element of filling by the edited image objects by which this filling earlier has been appropriated, will be printed with a new picture that, probably, not always enters into plans of the user.

At first it is necessary to be convinced of absence of the selected objects, then to select a necessary element in palette Swatches (Directory) and to "drag" it on a desktop (fig. 9.12).

After editing by all possible and necessary means the updated element can be "thrown" reversely in a palette, in this case it receives a new standard name and becomes an independent element. If in process "заброски" to retain a key [Alt] and to place a new element on old there will be a changeover (with all that it implies).

Relocation of elements of filling

Filling elements fill an object circuit from left to right and from below upwards. To change position of the first element concerning a filled circuit, it is necessary to move the beginning of coordinates of the document (!). Unfortunately, this constructive and radical measure concerns equally all. The objects receiving decorative filling.

If all the same the user dared to make it, it is necessary (to Show command Show Rulers rulers) menu View (Review) to display measuring rulers.

If to bring the cursor to intersection of rulers, to push the mouse button and to pull it in a working field by means of appeared перекрестья lines it is possible to install new position of the beginning of coordinates. All new objects with decorative filling will be filled with appropriate shift - However relocation of elements of filling by means of transformation commands is represented more simple method. Look about it in following section.

Transformation of objects with decorative filling

If the object has decorative filling it can be transformed (for example, to rotate or scale) both together with filling, and irrespective of it. Moreover, it is possible to transform only filling elements.

The variant choice (object and filling transformations, only object or only filling) is carried out in section General (Cores) of dialog box Preferences (Setting) which is caused by command Preferences (Setting) of menu Edit (Editing), and also in the dialog boxes connected to process of transformation and caused by commands Move (Relocation), Scale (Scaling), Rotate (Turn), Reflect (Mirror reflection), Shear (Inclination) of menu Object/Transform (Object/transformation).

To provide simultaneous transformation of objects and decorative filling, it is necessary to install in section General (Cores) of dialog box Preferences (Setting) flag Transform Pattern Tiles (to Transform decorative elements) (fig. 9.14). If it is required to transform only objects, without affecting decorative filling, this flag is necessary for removing.

In section General (Cores) of dialog box Preferences (Setting) are connected to setting of setting of dialog boxes of all commands of transformation. Unique difference consists that the last allocate still flag Patterns (Ornaments) which setting provides transformation only filling elements (fig. 9.15).

For transformation only elements of decorative filling in an interactive mode (by means of transformation in a palette of tools) it is necessary to retain pushed a key <~> (tilde).
