Search and sorting of libraries

When in library it is a lot of elements, their search can be complicated. In program InDesign special powerful function facilitates search of certain elements in library.

Search within library

1. Click by button Show Library Subset (to Show a subgroup).

Or

Select option Show Subset (to Show a subgroup) from a submenu of palette Library. Dialog box Subset (Subgroup) - fig. 12.9 opens.

2. Click on switch Search Entire Library (to Search on all library) to search for all elements in library (fig. 12.10).

Or

Click on switch Search Currently Shown Items (to Search among the shown elements) to view only those elements which are displayed now in library.

3. Use the menu and fields Parameters (Parameters) to install search criterions (fig. 12.11).

4. Click by button More Choices (More variants) to finish an amount of variants of search in the parameter list a maximum to five.

5. Click on switch Match All (Coincidence on all) to specify only those elements which correspond to all retrieval variants (fig. 12.12).

Or

Click on switch Match Any One (Coincidence on any) to find elements which meet at least in one of retrieval parameters.

6. Click ОК to display only those elements which answer retrieval criteria.

Use buttons Back (Back) or Forward (Forward) for relocation on earlier installed retrieval adjustments in dialog box Subset.

Display of all library elements

Select option Show All (to Show all) from a submenu of palette Library.

Sorting of library elements

Select an option from falling out menu Sort Items (to Sort elements) from palette Library:

  • By Name (By name) - arrangement of elements in alphabetic order;
  • By Oldest (On the oldest) - arrangement of elements as their adding, since the earliest elements;
  • By Newest (On the newest) - arrangement of elements as their adding, since the newest elements;
  • By Type (On type) - streamlining of elements in groups on categories.
