Quick keys, or keyboard abbreviations, allow to launch program commands very quickly. Packet InDesign gives the chance to change quick keys in the desirable image.

In this program exists two dial-ups of quick keys. At the first loading of a packet the dial-up of keys by default will be installed. It includes the most part of the keyboard shortcuts used in products of adobe, such as Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. Other dial-up contains the keyboard shortcuts used in QuarkXPress 4.O.

About own dial-up of quick keys

I know very many programs from the various companies-developers, I train students in operation with QuarkXPress more than 15 years, I work both in Adobe Illustrator, and in Macromedia FreeHand, and also I own Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Fireworks, and for imposition of all books I use InDesign.

I do not change quick key in program InDesign, as I consider what easier to find time for learning of its keys. It is the main program which I use, working over the book, therefore to remember key patterns does not make special work.

If you work with other programs, for example Macromedia FreeHand, can create an own dial-up of keyboard abbreviations.

Creation of a new dial-up of keyboard abbreviations

1. Execute commands Edit-> Edit Shortcuts (Editing-> to Edit keyboard abbreviations).

2. Select option New Set (New on a pine forest). On the screen there will be dialog box New Set (fig. 19.4).

3. Enter a dial-up name.

4. Select a dial-up on which will be wasps нован new.

Dial-ups should be based on other dial-ups as at a stage of creation they should contain any initial amount of combinations However at the subsequent change of an initial dial-up the dial-up based on it remains in a former type

5. Push APPRX. Now you can edit a dial-up as it is described in I follow щем section.

Faster to remember key patterns, can create a file which is including all keyboard abbreviations, and to hang up its printout near to the computer

Creation of the list of quick keys

1. Execute commands Edit-> Edit Shortcuts.

2. Select a dial-up from the menu.

3. Click by button Show Set (to Open a dial-up). The list of quick keys will be opened.

The list of keyboard shortcuts can be opened in following applications

Notepad (Win);

TextEdit (Mac OS X)

4. Unpack the text file. It is possible to change the keyboard abbreviation corresponding to a command. However not all commands have quick keys. Means, you have possibility to assign to commands own key patterns.

You can change keyboard shortcuts of any dial-up, except a dial-up by default and dial-up QuarkXPress.
