Text distortion

Program InDesign allows to scale the text across or verticals. The text is distorted, increasing in height or width (fig. 3.36). Thus the initial type face changes. Verstalshchiki-puristy (in particular, the author of this book) hate text distortion.

Application of horizontal scaling

1. Select the text to which want to apply distortion.
2. Change width of the text in the field of horizontal scaling of palette Character (fig. 3.37).

Usage of vertical scaling

1. Select the text to which want to apply distortion.
2. Change height of the text in the field of vertical scaling of palette Character (fig. 3.38).

Inclination adjustment allows to bend the text in various directions (fig. 3.39). This parameter also is called as false italics as a text inclination reminds italics.

Text curvature

1. Select the text which want to bend.
2. Enter value of slope angle of the text in an appropriate field of palette Character (fig. 3.40).

The positive values to 180 ° set a text inclination to the left, the negative values - to the right
